Craig Markham - Knowing how to defend yourself

Courses in self-defense provide students with the knowledge to become more aware of their surroundings. Knowing they are prepared in emergency situations can also lead to more confidence and the security of not feeling helpless in emergency situations. Often times these students also feel more capable and empowered to handle everyday situations that might often frighten them or lead them to depend on strangers for their wellbeing, like in the case of a broken down vehicle or walking alone in an unfamiliar area. Participants in self-defense benefit from now having options when they find themselves in precarious situations.

Many classes are geared specifically toward women in order to counter sexual assaults. Research on the subject has shown that women who resisted in these situations, either by physically responding to their attackers or screaming, or more likely to escape with their assailants efforts being unsuccessful. Empowering women in these situations helps to lower the number of attacks and give women response options when attacked to ward off their assailants.

Craig Markham has seen first-hand the need for self-defense courses when working in law enforcement and currently works to meet those needs as an instructor. Teaching others to be mindful of their surroundings and learn how to react during an assault can often mean the difference between life and death.

Craig Markham - How to Live a Healthy Life

Living a healthy life is a long-term commitment that requires effort and proper planning. It is also within your reach. Craig Markham, a professional law enforcement officer who boasts a background in baseball, hockey, and judo, knows that there are a few things that you can accomplish now that pave the way for a healthier future.

Balanced diet

It is important to eat a balanced diet that contains all the major food groups, vitamins, and minerals. A balanced diet keeps your body strong and healthy. By keeping track of what you eat, you are able to identify what is lacking in your diet. Additionally, tracking how you eat helps avoid over indulging on less than healthy snacks.

Craig Markham Regular physical activity

Regular physical exercise, whether out in a field or in a gym, helps to keep your weight in check while preventing the occurrence of many chronic diseases. Regular exercise also keeps the bone structure and muscles strong. The increased blood flow to the body improves skin tone and appearance, which boosts an individual’s self-esteem.

Mental health

Healthy living also involves keeping tabs on your emotional and mental well-being. You should aim to get at least 6-8 hours of sleep every night, with a preference for the higher number. A good night’s sleep keeps your mind fresh and relaxed. Work on cultivating quality relationships with people, and stay engaged by keeping the mind busy with constructive activities.

Lastly, make regular appointments with a doctor who should take you through several checkups to ensure your health. As Craig Markham knows, this helps to catch health issues before they become real concerns.
